Strangeways Here We Come

Tomorrow is my last day of college! Tonight was our program graduation party, but a lot of us left early to finish a big assignment that is due tomorrow or never. And admittedly, to watch TV because we are geeks. Things are strange!

Speaking of Skins...

I do apologize if you haven't watched Skins, but I just had to say something about this. I am watching 'A Single Man' and it is so funny to see Nicholas Hoult aka the crazy Tony Stonem of Skins, playing a 1960's American boy. Such a different character!

That, and I love him in this Ellen Von Unwerth editorial. Fin!

"Do you think you miss the things you love, or love the things you miss?"

I must admit, that I love the show 'Skins'. Despite the hatred of it by many, for being all about drugs and such, I inexplicably love it. I'd have to say the main reason I got hooked on it though, is Cassie Ainsworth. The character, played by Hannah Murray, is just the perfect amount of crazy, and she has the most lovely style. She is one of my favorite style icons of our generation. I love her mix of vintage, sailor tops, Kurt Kobain sunglasses, white dresses, sparkly overknee stockings, and gold shoes. She really just wore whatever she felt like and it was nice. Most of the clothing came from the actress' own closet as well.

Oh my, the gold shoes. Confession: After watching the show about a year ago, my obsession with them began, and it hasn't ended since! It all started with a mad internet hunt for the perfect gold tap shoes (which they spray painted for her on the set), of which I found a pretty good vintage version...and since I have retrieved 2 other pairs off of ebay. I need to be stopped.

When I backordered some issues of Lula a few months ago, I was so happy to find this editorial with Hannah in it. She is hard to find these days, as Skins has since moved on to a second generation of characters (strangest thing ever!), and are now moving onto a third. Anyways, this is one of my favorite editorials, and I never tire of looking at it. I love the mix of prints and styles along with her crazy hair, it just suits her so well. Oh, and I want that hat, haha!

Three

One

This arrived for me the other day, from this shop. I wasn't sure how to feel about totes but was converted when I saw their prints.

Two

I love the Alison Lewis fall collection, and the fact that it was inspired by Valerie and her Week of Wonders! Perfect. Found via liebemarlene.

Three

Finally. Just...finally. I've waited years for this to be released. No more rewatching episodes in bad quality on youtube! Daria Morgendorffer is too cool...and let's not even talk about my love for Trent and Tom. A fact that is so hilarious to me, is that 'Upchuck' is now married to Joan Holloway in reality. What a fairy tale!

Sretsis

I have loved 'Sretsis' since last Fall, when I became determined that I would somehow find a way to buy one of their velvet or peter pan collared party dresses. However, I was unemployed so obviously that dream didn't work out, haha.

I really like their new collection. I know a couple of them are a bit princess-y, but I can't help but love them. Maybe it is because they have used my very favorite colour of ice blue, along with pale pink which I am really into lately. I love that they added those colours to the hair, too! It's so pretty, and they are posing with a fox in one photo!

The whole thing really just reminds me of something that I would draw, and it scares me a bit. Haha they need to get out of my mind. Only, if I were drawing this I think I would have exchanged the cats for some more foxes or something, just to add a bit of edge. Because you know, foxes are edgy! This post, which you've probably seen, pretty much sums up my wariness towards the kittens and such. I think these clothes are just fun to look at really.

Sakura

Today I went across the street to High Park, to take some photos for one of my last projects. I didn't realize that the cherry blossom trees were all in bloom, and that it is actually a big annual event. It was completely packed with people walking around looking at the trees, and taking photos of themselves cheesily standing under them.

It was really pretty!

The sky seemed to be the perfect type of blue today. I thought it was a mistake when I was editing.

There are a lot of babies and dogs in this neighborhood, so there were lots of dogs running around and parents taking millions of baby pictures. As I approached this next couple, I could hear loud screaming coming from the stroller as they took photos, and just assumed it was another baby. However:

This poor dog! Haha they were parading it around the whole park, having a photoshoot. He growled anytime someone looked at him, probably because he was so annoyed, haha!

p.s. The ice cream trucks are out again! It makes me wish I were a person who had more than pennies for change in my wallet. I will have to work on that.

"You Cut Me Off Mid Funk!"

Sometimes I'm just really dull and like to go through my favorite videos for hours. It is a great procrastination method. I was quite disappointed to find that most of my favorite Buffy clips have been taken down and replaced with ridiculous Buffy/Gilmore Girls fan-fiction, the concept of which is just too horrible for me to understand. What are people these days thinking? Haha. Oh well, that probably would have just pushed the geekiness too far for one night anyways.

EDIT:

*This is the one I wanted to post. It is nice to just listen to to it really, as the zombies and turtles make it so calm and summery!

"For Relaxing Times, Make it Suntory Time"

School is so tiresome lately. Today we had to build rocketships and it was a laugh....a disasterous laugh!

It is strange that most people are done and we still have 2 more weeks, but at the same time I am pretty nervous about being through with it so I don't really mind. I've been applying for jobs frantically for a while now, and it is just so stressful that I am not looking forward to the days when I am doing that 24/7. The real world seems scary!

Enough serious business though. Isn't Bill just so cool? I thought this little photo needed to be shared. I wish that I had been the one to make it! If I ever stumble upon a time machine mark my word, I will go back and make it myself, haha.

Flowers!

I love this shop's headpieces! So pretty. They are called Garden of Whimsy and I found them through the Clothes Horse.

Other likes and wants:

This dress, or the whole outfit really, by Alexandra Grecco

This one from Liebemarlene. I wish I was rich so that I could bid on most of her items every week, haha.

And this one from Blooming Leopold. I am looking for summery smock dresses lately, but ones that are long enough to wear without tights seem to be hard to find for some reason. What a predicament!

Cupcakes!

Aah, this photo is from a bakery in Kensington Market last week. It is a bit of a snapshot though, as we kept getting yelled at by shop owners for taking photos. One woman even got mad at a classmate for taking pictures of a puddle! Ridiculous, haha.

It is suspected that I have many food allergies, in particular to gluten/wheat. So I am on the lookout for food recipes that are free of those. I bought my mum the book 'babycakes' for her birthday last year, and I think it has lots of 'healthy' and gluten free cupcake recipes, so I am excited to try some of those! I really want to bake lately, ha despite being bad at it.

Tonight I watched the movie 'Cracks', which was good, although a bit predictable. Despite this it still managed to disturb me more than most movies typically do. Ms. G is a terror.

Oh, and while procrastinating this morning, I watched the Goosebumps movie 'Welcome To Dead House' on youtube. It used to scare me so much, and I'll admit, it kind of still did, in all it's terribleness!

I have such an exciting life, haha!

An Education

Hello! I quite enjoyed that clip, haha, it makes me really want to watch more of Kids in the Hall. Summer is soon, so hopefully then?

The other night I finally got to watch 'An Education'. Have you seen it yet? I loved it so much!

The whole story was great, and I loved the clothes just as much or more. I find the sixties to be so perfect for fashion. Everything Carey Mulligan wore, I want to own.

Her everyday clothes, like the cardigans and flats were perfect, as of course were her shift dresses and sunglasses, so Audrey Hepburn!

I think the one outfit that stood out the most to me though, was her ballet style dress in the racetrack scene. I don't want to get too cheesy or anything, but if I ever get married I want my dress to be like that, haha. I would even settle for a second prom just for an excuse, really!

It seems to be impossible to find a full length photo of that dress.

I am also jealous of your straight hair, as you can pull off the cool sixties girl hairstyles so well with it. This scene had my other favorite outfit, but alas I am unable to find a full photo.

Today was so dark and dreary, I didn't get anything accomplished atall. Not that the weather is any excuse for my laziness...but I hope things are treating you better in Russell!
