Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you found the time to overeat and watch Oktoberfest meets Santa Clause style parades. I don't know how I feel about the latter yet - I'll get back to you.

Daylight

Hope you had a nice Sunday and have been enjoying the extra daylight! I spent today catching up on work, eating pizza, and going on an extra walk.

Orla Kiely NYC

I was really lucky over the last while, as I had the chance to create some illustrations for Orla Kiely's NYC boutique. They feature pieces from the brand's S/S 12 collection -which, as with their other collections, is filled with clothing that I'd be quite happy to own! Lots of perfect colours and signature patterns that were exciting to work with, which is right up there for me.

Anyhow, the finished and mounted pieces are on display and some for sale at the store, located at 5 Mercer Street in New York. The first picture is from Orla Kiely's instagram, showing the pieces on display for the first time during the South Soho stoop sale, which the store participated in the other night. I wish that I could make it over there, but just having my work in the store is really nice.

Enjoy the weekend!

"She despises the whole world; yet she lives only in imagination"

1: Fairy-land by Edgar Allan Poe. 2,3,4: The Snow Queen. 5,6: Beauty and The Beast

Edmund Dulac's fairytale and story illustrations are just so lovely. He used the greatest wintery colours! Come December I'm always thinking of images like these, in particular his work from "The Snow Queen." I think I've posted his work a few times before, but I thought I'd add to the collection one more time.

Images from here.

photos from Ellen Von Unwerth, Grimm's Fairy Tales and Buffy

One of my old favorite Halloween costumes and fairy tales(I love my red cape!), with some songs that are reminiscent of the day.

Postcards we're mailing of sky blue skies and oceans

Here is a commission that I just finished this past week. It's my second project surrounding a sort of "pirate" theme, but I had fun working on some different techniques and interpreting it slightly differently than I did a couple of years ago. I'd been wanting to do something with the "fishing lure" idea for a while too!

I hope that you're all having a nice weekend and start to the week!

Morning

Images from Barbara Cole, Edmund Dulac, Degas, Lina Scheynius, Lula, Sarah Moon, Rossetti, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Antoinette, Skins, William Turner

I've been having lots of early mornings lately. I'm still adjusting to it, but its nice to be up at that time when things are very still, you know?

This is my breakfast (and sometimes lunch...) for the week, so far. It kind of reminds me of that crumble I made a while ago. It tastes good with maple syrup or honey in place of brown sugar, too!
