Orla Kiely NYC

I was really lucky over the last while, as I had the chance to create some illustrations for Orla Kiely's NYC boutique. They feature pieces from the brand's S/S 12 collection -which, as with their other collections, is filled with clothing that I'd be quite happy to own! Lots of perfect colours and signature patterns that were exciting to work with, which is right up there for me.

Anyhow, the finished and mounted pieces are on display and some for sale at the store, located at 5 Mercer Street in New York. The first picture is from Orla Kiely's instagram, showing the pieces on display for the first time during the South Soho stoop sale, which the store participated in the other night. I wish that I could make it over there, but just having my work in the store is really nice.

Enjoy the weekend!

Kelly watch the stars

I created some illustrations that feature pieces from Orla Kiely's F/W 2011 collection. They are to go on display and for sale alongside some of the actual line when it is sold at Audrey Grace Boutique. I stuck with the 1960's theme that always works so well for Orla Kiely. Honestly though, any excuse to incorporate the decade is good with me. I even had the chance to put the massive collection of 1960's hair and editorial photos that I seem to have accumulated over time to good use! Something that I'm sure I'll find many more occasions for in the future.

I hope that the weekend is off to a good start for you!

Birds of North America Spring and Summer 2011

Well, here is a big project that I have been working on for a while. They are illustrations for Birds of North America's Spring/Summer 2011 collection. I was really happy that one of my first big fashion related projects could be for a line that I loved so much. I had such a difficult time selecting just a few pieces to draw and paint, as they are all just so lovely! Birds of North America is run by Hayley Gibson out of Montreal, and the rest of her line as well as past collections are definitely worth checking out. A lot of pieces really bring to mind Dear Creatures with a twist for me, which is always a good thing!
