I'm pretty excited to finally share this project that I've been working on for quite a while! I've made a little website and opened an ebay store to sell vintage in, to coincide with my with my wholesale business. Here are a few photos that I took to go along with it.
Planning out and shooting the lookbook was the best part - as I'd been wanting to have a shoot like this for a long time. I combined a bunch of my favorite things - like cat eye makeup, gold glitter (I did the shoes up myself - as I just haven't found the perfect ones yet in all my years of searching), and 35mm film, some of which was expired.
Model Marley of MIM and hair and makeup artist Caitlin were quite fun to work with, and really helped to bring all of my odd ideas together. I'm even more grateful to them as we shot on a cold December day in my unfinished shed, and there were no complaints!
Anyhow, more photos can be found here, along with more information should anyone be interested. I added a few items to the store last night, but more pieces from the lookbook will be available over the next few weeks.
I hope you're all well, and having a lovely week!
Here are a few of my favorite dresses that I've found while thrift shopping lately. Some of them have been altered and hemmed a bit as they were quite long and awkward fitting start with. My sewing skills are still very basic, but I'm learning by trial and error. Its been great practice for altering other clothes to sell/for clients, and I'm already getting a lot of wear out of them. The floral dress has been my uniform for a while, and they all really fit in with what I like to wear right now. With tights, of course. And sweaters and coats!
Some things that I love from Etsy, these days! Click on the pictures to visit the listings and shops.
Well, here is a big project that I have been working on for a while. They are illustrations for Birds of North America's Spring/Summer 2011 collection. I was really happy that one of my first big fashion related projects could be for a line that I loved so much. I had such a difficult time selecting just a few pieces to draw and paint, as they are all just so lovely! Birds of North America is run by Hayley Gibson out of Montreal, and the rest of her line as well as past collections are definitely worth checking out. A lot of pieces really bring to mind Dear Creatures with a twist for me, which is always a good thing!
Seeing sneak peeks of Dear Creatures' Spring and Summer collection keeps making me excited for Spring. But I really don't want to be because it is way too soon! I don't usually spend very much on single pieces of clothing but I have bought 2 Dear Creatures dresses in the past. I love them so much, and they are really good quality! That was almost two years ago though. I have been very in love with their winter collection, and this one is just as lovely. I espescially like the Gretel dress in chambray and the last one.
