This Christmas has been nice. It was the first year that I didn't have to go anywhere on Christmas day, and it almost feels like the holiday has lasted longer because of it. The days after Christmas are probably my favorites. Lots of napping, TV watching, chocolate eating, and walks with Finnigan and Levi occur. I will definitely have trouble returning to productivity next week!
I was always obsessed with the ice cream cone ornament. So much so that when I was about three I tried to take a bite out of it (hence the frayed bit) and bit off the bottom of the cone instead. It's not made out of a real ice cream cone, unfortunately...
I know it's a bit early, really, but I kind of feel like it's already happened since I have had way too much to eat this month. Mainly cupcakes and pickles, but not together. I hope your holiday is lovely!
Just a few things that I like which have been inspiring me for December! I need those gold shoes for my collection, they are so perfect!
All photos that I have links for, link to the source.
p.s. I finally finished 'A Complicated Kindness' the other night and I really loved it! I felt like I liked the characters more than ever at the end. It was so sad but good.
The first week of December has been (fairly) unintentionally Christmas-y for me! I have been illustrating some greeting cards for my dad's company, and that in combination with the Charlie Brown Christmas album, snowy weather, and chocolate gift baskets has me drawing my own festive-like scenes in any free time. I did this one yesterday and I know there will be more to come!
Just a few images from the artist Dorothy Lathrop. She worked predominantly throughout the 1930's-1940's, and liked drawing animals and fairies most. Actually she was most attracted to stories that involved "fiercer" animals or beasts, but was discouraged from drawing them so as to not scare the children, haha. I love how she did both ink and watercolour drawings so perfectly!
The pictures are from everywhere, apologies! They have just been sitting on my computer forever...
A few days ago I made this picture, and inherited about 5 stray cats in my yard. I have no idea why..although they do like to chase the birds and eat the bird seed. I wish that we could keep them, but I'm afraid the dogs and my allergies wouldn't have it. They like to spy on the dogs when we're outside, and the dogs watch them through the windows. Excuse the 'through the window' photos, I didn't want to disturb them!
I was already pretty excited for the movie 'Black Swan', but these Art Deco style posters make it look even better!
Also, I am not usually a very angry person but the fact that they are officially remaking Buffy into a movie makes me outraged!I really feel like I should be holding a rally or something...
Wishing for a cape and some hearts to put in my hair. I can't believe it is almost December!
Finding some photo inspiration from Shae Acopian Detar.
Geeking out over Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows! So sad and wonderful. I can't believe the end is so close. Also, I want to go to a Bill and Fleur-esque wedding...minus the Death Eaters (I think...).
Watching Charade at least 3 times in one week. It seems to be a November tradition of mine to watch through all of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies.I know it's so typical but they will always be my favorites. I love the old Hollywood dramatic story lines and how the friendships and romances are so simple and humorous. Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant do a really nice job of that with Charade (although no one beats Fred Astaire!) I think I will forever feel a bit attached to this one too, as I thought that Walter Matthau was my grandfather for years haha. They looked exactly alike!

I have been so busy lately painting and drawing all day. I need more hours in the day! This one may or may not have been inspired by Rick Steves, paper castles, and the fact that I sometimes wish for red hair to put a nice green ribbon in. I hope all is lovely over there!
For the second year in a row I really just want everything from tba in my closet! I've very much been thinking of saving up for one green velvet dress (or another, tough decisions)for the holidays. If only I had exciting places to wear it to, haha! Although I would settle for having a nice old house to explore as it looks lovely in the pictures...
p.s. The sheer sleeves under their sleeveless coat are making me think of that perfect Marie Antoinette ball dress again!
