Illustrated Authors

Issue 6 of Cupcake magazine is out now, and it includes the polaroid illustrations that I posted about a while ago, as well as this article that I painted some little portraits and flowers for. I would have loved to have drawn Bret Easton Ellis and Dodie Smith as well, had I known they were included/had there been room. I loved "I Capture The Castle" as a child and have read "The Rules of Attraction" one two many times!

Anyways, I know you are a Charlotte Bronte fan, so I hope that I did her justice! I went a little crazy on the colour in these, wanting to put a spin on the black and white portraits that I had for reference. Trollope seems to have been the primary victim, gaining some blue in his beard. I haven't read any of his work, and I can't say that I know too much about him, but I feel like it suits him well!

A Real Fish Outta Water

I love these stop motion videos made using Black Apple's  paper dolls. I have always loved paper dolls and try to collect the old books whenever I can spot them. This is a really nice way of putting them to use, and I love the captions and stories that were created around them!

p.s. I finally finished 'A Complicated Kindness' the other night and I really loved it! I felt like I liked the characters more than ever at the end. It was so sad but good.

Green Light

The Great Gatsby has to be one of my favorite books. Every summer I find myself rereading it by compulsion. It just has a really nice, calm and summery sort of feeling to it if that makes any sense. I think that it reminds me of the summers I wish I had...away in a country house somewhere by the water, where you can just think and ride bikes and go boating all the time. I have some exciting aspirations! It is also quite short, a fact which my recently killed attention span quite appreciates.


I also love the movie, probably very much due to the aesthetic and Robert Redford.

His hats were so great! P.S. Doesn't he look like a cross between Brad Pitt (as he usually does) and Owen Wilson in this photo? ha
