Morning

I've been having lots of early mornings lately. I'm still adjusting to it, but its nice to be up at that time when things are very still, you know?

This is my breakfast (and sometimes lunch...) for the week, so far. It kind of reminds me of that crumble I made a while ago. It tastes good with maple syrup or honey in place of brown sugar, too!

  1. I know exactly what you mean. Early mornings are so lovely and quiet but it's a chore to experience them. I love that you threw in some screen shots from Marie Antoinette! That's exactly what I thought of when I read the title of your post!

Waaah honey and maple syrup are so expensive here… and I don't have an oven… haha. That link made me a tad homesick.

  2. I love mornings...I think especially because it means I still have an entire day to accomplish something. I had many early mornings working for the farm...some too early.

  3. I really want to watch Marie Antoinette again soon...I feel like I watch it every fall and it was so nice when we watched it last year!

And I'm sorry, Katie! I will try to find some recipes that you are able to make in the future to avoid causing home sickness. Do you have a stove top or a microwave?

That's so true Beth! I love that you can get so much done instead of half the day passing by the time you eat breakfast and stuff.

  4. PS: what does baked oatmeal taste like? Does it taste like normal oatmeal? I hate normal oatmeal and am too afraid of wasting a whole recipe to try baked oatmeal...I wish I liked oatmeal!

  5. I find it tastes better than normal oatmeal, actually! It tastes a lot more like a crumble, especially when you first make it/its straight out of the oven! The fruit and other flavors overpower the actual oatmeal.

I found that after 2 days it was starting to taste more "oatmeal-y" than before though...the flavors weren't as strong.

You should try making a small bowl of it to see if you like it...and like, feed it to your dogs or something if it is too oatmeal-y for you haha.
