A few beauty related things that Ive found helpful this winter:
- Coconut Oil: I like using this for lots of things, but lately its been particularly nice when mixed up as a scrub to fix dry lips.
- Hair Masks: I'm a bit of a slag for masks year round - but they do wonders for my hair in the dry months.
- Soap and Glory's Clean, Girls Body Wash: Something new to me lately. It has a built in moisturizer, making it ideal for lazies like myself. At first I wasn't sure about the smell, as its a bit more perfumed than I'm used to, but now I quite like it! Overall very nice and perfect for winter.
- Alba Botanica Hawaiian Aloe and Green Tea Oil Free Moisturizer: I've been using this as a night cream (no SPF) since just after Christmas, and quite like it. Even though its oil free and fast absorbing, it stays on your skin long enough to feel like its still working overnight. For a long time, moisturizers I tried either absorbed too fast - disappearing without a trace, or sat on top of my skin. Non irritating and very refreshing.
- Queen Helene Olive Oil Face Masque: I had been on the look out for moisture masks for a while, as I love using clay masks but they are too drying to do regularly throughout the winter (I've had to cut down from 3 times to once a week...) This one is very moisturizing and non irritating to my sensitive skin. Also - cheap (Under $5.00)
- Silk Elements Shea Butter and Olive Oil Hand Cream: More olive oil, apparently! A last minute, at the cash purchase that I'm pleasantly surprised with. The smell is nice - not overpowering and headache inducing, and it absorbs quickly without leaving your hands completely greasy. I use hand cream much more now that I don't have to worry about such things. Nice for keeping in my bag and applying anytime.
- Cream Lipsticks and Tinted Balms: I've had to set aside some of my favorite matte lipsticks throughout the dryer months - and make way for some more hydrating formulas, something I've enjoyed more than expected. I've been liking Revlon lip butters year round, while their Super Lustrous lipsticks are a new addition. Vaseline Rosy Lips is also a favorite!
Do you have any favorites that are helping you get through Winter?
These are all nice things! I recently bought a face mask from the Body Shop, that 3 in 1 blue corn mask with kaolin clay and I love it. My skin reacts weirdly to winter. It gets dry and then overcompensates, so that mask is very useful. Someone nice also gave me a cute cupcake shaped bath bomb recently…
ReplyDeleteOo I really want to try that mask now! I am very hit and miss with the body shop - sometimes their products make my skin go crazy and sometimes they are perfect. I really liked their blue corn mask that you introduced me to a few years ago too!
ReplyDeleteAnd haha you'll have to let me know how the bath bomb is!
I think we're talking about the same mask! I hadn't used it in years and just rediscovered it.
DeleteIt was lovely! Made my tub red for a couple of days but that's gone now.
All of these sound like a great idea at the moment. I don't know why, I always forget face masks, but I think it's probably time I remediate to their absence in my cabinet. My two favourite winter products are Kiehl's Ultra face cream, and Burt's Bees shea butter hand cream (which I occasionally use as a lip balm as well, haha).
